Patterns is an activation of the Pollock-Krasner House by Dallas, TX artist Simon Waranch. Metal, wood, and blown and cast glass sculptures populate the first floor kitchen, dining room, and parlor of the home, organically interspersed in the historic setting. Just as a house guest temporarily augments the atmosphere of a living space, allowing us to see our home through fresh eyes, so too do Waranch’s sculptures mingle in and with the space. Placed in juxtaposition with the decorative elements native to the home, viewers are asked to consider the similarities and differences between fine art and decoration as both function in daily life and in a domestic setting. The introduction of glass sculpture into the house also recalls Jackson Pollock’s and Lee Krasner’s own forays into the medium of glass.
See the activation on Saturday, November 09 from 4 - 6 PM. The artist will be present.
A special catalogue for this exhibition was made possible in part thanks to the generous support of Bonner David Galleries New York.
