The East End in the Abstract
The Pollock-Krasner House and Study Center hostsThe East End in the Abstract at the Avram Family Art Gallery at Stony Brook Southampton. The exhibition, now on view, showcases select works from the permanent collection of the Pollock-Krasner House and Study Center, featuring paintings, prints, and drawings by artists such as James Brooks, Charlotte Park, John Little, and Perle Fine. A triptych by Joe Zucker and a painting by East Hampton-based Susan Vecsey represent contemporary abstract work from the region.
The Avram Gallery is an integral part of the unique education offered at Stony Brook Southampton. It features more than 1,000 square feet of 21st-century exhibit space and is an intimate setting where artists and art lovers can interact. The re-opening of the Avram Gallery follows the re-activation of the Avram Theater. The 429-seat Avram Theater has been the site of leading artistic events since the 1980s, including readings, dance and musical recitals, operas, theater productions, and Pianofest, a series of concerts by internationally-acclaimed classical musicians.
